ICCM relies on this pool of contributors to support our Cohort Experience programs. We partner with various professionals throughout our Cohort cycles, with involvement ranging from facilitating a one-time workshop to monthly mentorship meetings. If you are interested in filling one of these independent contractor roles, please fill out an application form below. Detailed information about each role is also provided below.
Position Summary:
In the context of the ICCM cohort framework, the Mentor plays an integral role. The cohort members will be engaging in formative content in three main ways; they will be following a personalized learning plan; they will attend face-to-face trainings every six months and engaging in online modules in the interim. They will also be exercising their skills in their respective contexts through a “practicum” or service-learning endeavor they have designed. The Mentor plays a pivotal and pastoral role providing guidance as they navigate these experiences. The Mentor provides Biblical counsel, opportunities for prayer, and practical input as the cohort members pursue growth in the ICCM curricular focus areas of intercultural competence, theology of unity and diversity, and leadership.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Statement of faith aligning with Nicene Creed
- Demonstrated knowledge of Scripture and Biblical principles
- At least 5-years’ experience in cross-cultural ministry or related work
- Previous teaching, training, pastoral, discipleship, or mentorship experience
- Availability
Position Function/Responsibilities:
- Foster a close, interpersonal relationship(s) with cohort member(s)
- Provide hour-long discipleship *meetings in person or on video conferencing platform between 2-4 times per month
- Provide encouragement to cohort member(s)
- Pray with and for cohort member (s)
- Communicate with ICCM staff with any concerns you may have about cohort member(s)
- Communicate with ICCM staff potential concerns about ICCM programming that you and/or the cohort member(s) would like us to know
- Submit brief monthly reports of mentor meetings
Compensation:
Each 1:1 meeting (including necessary communication before and after ) is compensated at $100
Each 1:2 meeting (including necessary communication before and after) is compensated at $125
Each 1:3 meeting including necessary communication before and after) is compensated at $150
*When mentoring 2-3 mentees, meet as a group with limit one individual session or meeting per mentee per month as needed

Position Function/responsibilities:
- Serve as Subject Area Expert to advise ICCM instructional designer for content collaboration
- Propose topics and content useful to ICCM staff as related to ICCM curriculum
- Communicate with ICCM staff and instructional designer
- Consult on content and subject area with instructional designer
- Meet (in person or online) to discuss and design instructional content based on expertise
- Contribute to instructional content with content suggestions, co-creation of bespoke content, or allow ICCM to utilize one’s own pre-existing content
- Provide input and suggestions based on expertise, on instructional content
- Participate in evaluation of content, by reviewing trainee feedback and by revisiting and possibly redesigning content for future implementation
Compensation: $150/hour
Requirements/qualifications:

- Expertise in subject area related to ICCM curriculum
- At least 5 years’ experience in cross-cultural ministry, adult training work, or related field
- Previous teaching or training experience or willingness to receive teacher training
- Ability to create student-centered content or willingness to work with ICCM’s instructional manager to create student-centered content
- Availability to facilitate face-to-face workshops in Washington, DC
- Availability to participate in planning and debriefing phases of workshop delivery
Position Function/responsibilities:
- Provide lesson plan, materials, and instruction for an in-person workshop or training session
Before Facilitation:
- Communicate with ICCM staff and instructional designer
- Propose topics and/or content for workshops or classes
- Create and submit lesson plans that: include clear, SMART objectives; include proposed activities and content; include forms of assessment; aim for a lesson or workshop that has a ≤ 20% teacher talk time to ≥ 80% student activity ratio
- Respond to lesson plan feedback from instructional designer
- Prepare necessary materials and submit them to ICCM staff for copying with 48h notice
- Request any other class materials (flip charts, clip boards etc.) with 48h notice
During Facilitation:
- Facilitate a student-centered workshop or class in line with Andragogy and brain-based learning
After Facilitation:
- Participate in evaluation of content, by reviewing trainee feedback and by revisiting and possibly redesigning content for future implementation
- Possibly provide reflection or debrief workshop with instructional manager
Compensation: Commensurate with experience and education

- Previous teaching or training experience or willingness to receive teacher training
- Ability to create student-centered content or willingness to work with ICCM’s instructional manager to create student-centered content
- Availability
- Knowledge or comfort with using online platforms and LMS
Position Function/responsibilities:
- Provide lesson plan, materials, and instruction for an online workshop; interactive webinar; or synchronous, live Q&A session
Before Facilitation:
- Communicate with ICCM staff and instructional designer
- Propose topics and/or content for interactive webinar
- Create and submit lesson plan that include; clear, SMART objectives; proposed activities and content; and forms of assessment OR collaborate with instructional designer to plan webinar
- Respond to lesson plan feedback from instructional designer
- Prepare necessary materials and submit them to instructional designer for online posting with 48
hours prior to webinar - Join ICCM Online Platform at least 24 hours prior to webinar
During Facilitation:
- Present content in dynamic fashion online
- Respond to participant questions either during content transmission or afterward in Q&A session
After Facilitation:
- Answer online questions posted by trainees who could not attend live webinar in the next 24
hours - Participate in evaluation of content by reviewing trainee feedback and by revisiting and possibly
redesigning content for future implementation - Possibly provide reflection or debrief webinar with instructional manager

Position Function/responsibilities:
- Provide moderation on and contributions to online discussion forum(s)
Before Moderation:
- Communicate with ICCM staff and instructional designer
- Join ICCM Online Platform at least 24 hours prior to discussion forum assignment
Online Moderation:
- Assist in facilitating topical online discussion
- Post questions and comments in a topical discussion forum during the time frame allotted
by instructional designer - Contribute to threads started by participants by furthering concepts and ideas
- Post links, articles, videos, book recommendations etc., as seen fit, to enhance participants’ learning on subjects discussed in forum
- Respond to each individual student in some way
- Post questions and comments in a topical discussion forum during the time frame allotted
- Provide Biblical counsel on topics and questions that arise in the discussion forum
After Moderation:
- Participate in evaluation of content by reviewing trainee feedback
Compensation: $300 flat rate
